Feral Wiki

Beta Testing is a period in Feral's lifespan where the game undergoes pre-release testing in the final stages of development. Feral is currently in its open beta testing stage, meaning that anyone can download the game at https://fer.al/en/download and play.

Information

The main purpose of Feral's beta testing is for testers to try out the game for the first time and spot bugs or other glitches that may have been missed during development.

Closed Beta Testing

Closed Beta Testing is where WildWorks selects a specific group of people to be whitelisted, or allowed in, for Feral. They sent out a form on December 11, 2019 for players to sign up for a chance to be selected for testing. Closed beta ended on May 20, 2020 when Feral's beta testing opened its doors to everyone.

Friends And Family Testing

According to wwadmin on Discord, "Wave 0" of beta testing started on July 17, 2019, although no further information about this topic was given. They continued closed beta testing on December 13, 2019 by selecting many popular Animal Jam content creators known as Jambassadors. Being content creators, many of them created various media including videos, Instagram posts, and more about their experiences in the game.

Wave 1

On December 17th, 2019, WildWorks selected players from those who signed up for wave one of beta testing. This wave lasted up until January 17th, 2020, when Feral was temporarily shut down for renovations. The game did not reopen until March 18th of that same year, where all Wave 1 testers were allowed back into the game. However, their accounts were completely wiped and the only thing they kept from their past testing was their username.

Wave 2

On March 20th, 2020, WildWorks sent out emails for the second wave of beta testing, allowing another multitude of users in the game.

Wave 3

Wave 3 of Beta Testing was released on April 1st, 2020. More users were accepted into the game, although no new updates had been made.

Wave 4

On April 7, 2020, more users were accepted into the game. No new updates in terms of gameplay were made.

Wave 5

On April 9th, 2020, Wave 5 of beta testing was released, adding more users into the game.

Wave 6

On April 10th, 2020, Wave 6 of beta testing was released, adding more users into the game.

Limited Early Access

WildWorks announced that Feral was going into Limited Early Access on April 14th, 2020, signifying the near end of Closed Beta. With this brought in-app purchases to the game in the form of the Royal Boutique (since retooled into the Astral Shop). Additionally, WildWorks confirmed that accounts would no longer be at risk of being wiped from this point forward. Wave 7, the last and final wave of closed beta testers, were invited on May 14th, 2020, a full month after Limited Early Access was announced.

Early Access

Early Access, often considered simply Open Beta by the community, is where any and all players can download, sign up for and play the game without requiring an invite. Early Access was released on May 20th, 2020 and is the current stage of Feral's development.

Trivia
