Many see Fae as shifty and not to be trusted —especially those who have been outsmarted by these Creatures. However, now is their moment to shine as they gradually drift into the world of Fer.al. The inner workings of a Fae's mind are often unclear, but once you learn how to play by their rules, there are no better allies to have on your side when you need to navigate the curiouser paths of life.

The Fae is an Avatar in Feral. It was released on May 27th, 2021, and was available through the "Early Access 6" Season Pass. However, since the July 30th update, Faes are now available through the Astral Shop.

Description[]

The Fae is a short humanoid creature. It has a small lipless mouth, pointy ears, small claws more akin to human hands, a skinny tail with a plant bud at the end, and a leaf around its neck that covers the upper half of its body. Its arms are skinny save for the forearms, which are wider, and its legs are separated at the knees. It has a soft round head with short "hair" made of leaves and two uneven, twig-like, striped horns. The waist and thighs have small leaves that jut out, and its eyes have a spiral pattern.

The default avatar is mostly a dark green with lime forearms and forelegs, light green leaves on the body, and yellow hair and neck leaves. The horns are white and pink, its Spark is teal, and its eyes are a deep red.

The gnarled-thorn path is clear to those who know which roots to trace.

Mythology[]

A fairy (also fay, fae, fey, fair folk, or faerie) is a type of mythical being or legendary creature found in the folklore of multiple European cultures, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural, or preternatural. Myths and stories about fairies do not have a single origin, but are rather a collection of folk beliefs from disparate sources. Various folk theories about the origins of fairies include casting them as either demoted angels or demons in a Christian tradition, as deities in Pagan belief systems, as spirits of the dead, as prehistoric precursors to humans, or as spirits of nature.

Trivia[]

  • The Fae currently has an issue where both horns and the Spark on the Bushy Head do not attach to the head itself or are hidden (in that order) unless the Fae is emoting or T-posing (seen while editing Decals).
  • The Fae has similarities to the unconfirmed Elf and Fairy avatars, more closely similar to the latter.
    • This is most seen in its wing design and the small size of the creature.
  • There is a possibility the original Fairy creature may have been converted into the Fae, as a way to make the creature fit in with the art style of Fer.al as many depictions of fairies see them as incredibly human.
    • Fairies in folklore are also occasionally called "fae", furthering this belief.
  • If a Fae has wings, they will have special animations for the Fae's emote animations. These include fluttering while the Fae is sitting and while sleeping (the Fae floating in midair while doing so with or without wings).
