Did The Expanse Rotate Yet?

This page is for a mechanic that is present within Feral, but has no official name or documentation. As such, while the Feral Wiki does its best with observation, all information on this page should be considered subjective and taken with a grain of salt.

Map Rotation, often referred to as simply "rotation", was a mechanic within Feral where certain parts of The Expanse were periodically opened and closed by use of Portals and Gates that the player could access at different times.

When a Realm rotated, all Chests (excluding brown, which respawn more frequently) and lockpicks were replenished. The specific areas of a Realm a player could access may differ, but were not guaranteed to be changed when rotation occurs.

Information

The Expanse formerly rotated every three days at 0:00 UTC. When this happened, one of the three Realms would rotate according to the following order:

Lakeroot ValleyMugmyre MarshBlood Tundra

Once the above cycle is complete, rotations would loop back around and start again. This order repeated indefinitely, until it was removed on November 5th.

Upon rotation, all red, blue and purple chests refreshed, and moved to different locations with different rewards from the previous rotation. Some of these rewards may have been old Fera Fashions items or new items entirely. All lockpicks would respawn, allowing a player to gather more of them.

Portals

Expanse Portal

An example of one of the portals found in The Expanse.

Occasionally, once a Realm rotated, a new set of portals would be accessible from the Map screen. This granted the player access to new areas of a Realm that was previously inaccessible, allowing the player to harvest new Ingredients, find new Inspirations and explore new parts of the map. Every Realm in The Expanse has multiple portals that can be accessible at any one time, and these portals are typically placed in major landmarks or locations of each individual Realm.

Gates

In several different locations of each Realm, there are gates which block a player's access to different parts of the map. These gates are made of stone, and are blocked off with glowing, floating crystals. It is impossible to bypass these gates through normal game play, causing a player to be sectioned off to specific areas of a Realm and unable to harvest specific ingredients.

If multiple portals are accessible to the player, gates connecting these areas can be found open and passed through normally.

As of November 5th, 2020, these gates only appear in Mugmyre Marsh.

Schedule

READ THIS MESSAGE BEFORE COMMENTING ABOUT THE SCHEDULE

This schedule was made under the assumption that there will no new expanse areas introduced within the year, nor any unexpected delays/advances. The 2021 Calendar is purely hypothetical. Lands have stopped rotating since November 5th, 2020.

This schedule was made representing UTC+ time. It is NOT incorrect, you are just in a different time zone.

In UTC/GMT time, the rotations happened at 12 AM/0:00, which was midnight on the morning of the highlighted date.

In any time zone behind UTC, the rotations would happen one day before the day that was highlighted on the calendar.

Pertaining to the above, all of the time zones listed below have the rotations occur on the day before the day that is highlighted. The time listed is when it will happen.

ET (EST/EDT) - 8 PM / 20:00

CT (CST/CDT) - 7 PM / 19:00

MT (MST/MDT) - 6 PM / 18:00

PT (PST/PDT) - 5 PM / 17:00

If your time zone is not listed above and you wish to know when rotations happen in your time, see this link: http://www.timebie.com/std/utc.php?q=0
