The Shinigami is an avatar in Feral. It was released on January 12th, 2021, and was formerly available through the "Early Access 4" Season Pass. It is now available through the Astral Shop.

Description[]

"Curious. Gleeful. Distant."

The Shinigami is a lanky humanoid creature. It has a jagged smile, goat-like ears, long claws, a tail with a barb at the end, and a mane of fur that drapes over its chest and shoulders. Its forearms and hands are not attached to the rest of its body, and float a small distance away from their elbow. Its tail also has floating components, most notably the barb at the tip. Wisps of flame or smoke appear to pour from the back of its head and from its tail. Above the flames on its head are several disorganized and asymmetrical floating quills.

The default avatar is mostly teal with black feet, hands, tail tip, face and horns. Its mouth and spark, as well as the claws on its feet and the edge of its mane are a pinkish red.

Shinigami (Japanese: 死神, also referred to as "Grim Reapers", "death bringers" or "death spirits") are supernatural spirits that first originated in Japanese culture and religion. They are said to invite humans towards death by possessing them and bestowing thoughts of suicide. They were commonly seen appearing at sites specifically of double suicides, often said to be the driving force.

Trivia[]

The Shinigami is the first bipedal or humanoid avatar to be introduced into Feral.
The Shinigami was first teased in a Fer.al Direct livestream, in which it was said that one of these creatures is in popular culture and is said to love apples.
- This was a reference to the character Ryuk from the anime Death Note, a Shinigami that only eats apples.

The apprehensive head has a glitch which causes the Shinigami's spark to not appear.
If a Shinigami has wings when entering decal mode, its wings will become warped and elongated.
The Shinigami may sometimes appear with bright magenta particles where its particle effects are.
The Shinigami currently has no epic wings.
