Valkeri are NPCs found within Feral. They are humanoid bird-like creatures. Sam, (one of Feral's writers) in a Q&A, said that "Valkeri moved from one planet to other planets to study new cultures and arts. Now, they have lived in Feral for hundreds of years." Most Valkeri have a love for music. They can be found in the following realms: City Fera, Shattered Bay, Sunken Thicket, Blood Tundra, and Lakeroot Valley.
Description[]
Valkeri are seen with wing-like arms, round or slightly square-shaped owl- or finch-like heads, long tailfeathers, and legs that lack talons. Their feathers vary widely in color, but usually consist of two colors of the same hue.
Clothing[]
Valkeri NPCs can be found wearing two kinds of clothing: woolen robes and tunics.
Robe[]
The Valkeri robes seem to resemble woolen-made clothing with white or half-white sleeves. The robes usually have belts.
The NPCs that can be seen wearing this are: Cassia, Cael, Darcy, LaFayette, Lysander, Noct, and Rosalie.
Tunic[]
The Valkeri tunic is usually striped and has short sleeves.
The NPCs that are seen wearing this type are:
Hand Types[]
The Valkeri NPCs are seen with two kinds of hands. The first is fully feathered, and the second is more humanoid.
Feathered[]
The first type is fully feathered like a bird's wings, with four feathers posing as the "fingers."
The following NPCs have this type: Viola, Iris, Calliope, Lysander, and Bellamy.
Humanoid[]
The second type is more humanoid, like a Seraph hand. It is mostly feathers, and it ends with a humanoid hand with spindly fingers.
The following NPCs have this type: Sergeant Gale, Noct, Cassia, Vesta, and Ava.
History[]
Migrating from One Planet to Another[]
One of the Feral writers, Sam, confirmed that Valkeri are moving from one planet to other planets.
The race of Valkeri have already lived for hundreds of years, but some Valkeri NPCs today are more loyal to the Queens. Similar to how Sergeant Gale is dedicated to protecting Feral, Calliope is searching for information from the past to find the key to waking up the Queens, and Viola is leading The Betwixt research. Noct has said that "We Valkeri have a song for each of the Queens' periods of slumber, save the event 150 years ago, which rings strangely silent in our history..." Rosalie often mentions that she wishes she could wake up the Queens. Sam's lore, meanwhile, includes some quotes that hint at more lore.
Examples are: Eland's Totem Quote, Valkeri Travel Map's Quote, and the quote"Valkeri carry around totems of their beloved figures and heroes to guide them on many journeys," which comes from an NPC.
Valkeri Ancestors[]
There are three known Valkeri ancestors in Feral, according to the Valkeri totems: Prince Eland (Eland's Totem), Lady Ianthe (Ianthe's Totem), and Eridia (Eridia's Totem), which are all shaped differently.
The Lost Prince Eland[]
Prince Eland, known also as "The Lost Prince Eland", is known as one of the vengeful figures in Valkeri tradition, based on the totem. It is not clarified why he's called "Prince" and "Lost." He has a round head and resembles the standard valkeri. The Valkeri NPCs that share his appearance are:
Vesta, Iris, Lafayette, Oberon, and Calliope. So, based on the totem, it is possible that some of these NPCs are descended from Prince Eland.
Lady Ianthe[]
Lady Ianthe is another Valkeri ancestor that has a Valkeri totem. As of now, it hasn't yet been fully descriptive about her life alongside the other ancestors. Her totem has a taller head than the others, and she shares a similar appearance with these NPCs:
Icarus, Bellamy, Noct, and Viola.
Eridia Anstice[]
Eridia Anstice is seen with the roundest head and shortest height compared to the other ancestors. Like the others, there isn't much lore involving her past and why she's called "Anstice" (although, the word "anstice" in Romanian means "ancient"). Eridia Anstice shares a similar appearance with Cassia and Ava.
Valkeri Script[]
Noct mentions possible lore involving the three species' languages in Season Pass 5 (2021), one of which is the Valkeri script. He says:
“ | „ |
Currently, the appearance of Valkeri script is unknown, whilst the other writings, like the Kobolds' and the Komodoris', has made a possible appearance somewhere in the these species' native realms, such as the bold writing in Lakeroot Valley.
Sky Court Items[]
The Sky Court items are a furniture set released two or three months before gliding became possible and the Feral Air Mail Store was added, during Season Pass 5. The set name was taken from the Sky Court. Information or lore involving it is still unknown, but it might be a noble job in Valkeri culture or history, since a few of the items' descriptions mention Valkeri.
The Sky Court items are: Sky Court Wall Banner, Sky Court Hearth, Sky Court Lounge Chair, Sky Court Pillar, Sky Court Armoire, Sky Court Feeder, Sky Court Bird Houses, Sky Court Long Table, Sky Court Wall Shelves, Sky Court Bird Swing, Sky Court Bench, Sky Court Round Table, Sky Court Bed, Sky Court Window, and Sky Court Rug.
The Skyweavers Family[]
According to the item Sky Court Wall Banner, it is said that the Skyweavers Family is the oldest and the most noble Valkeri family.
It does not provide details covering the background of the family.
Feral Air Mail Store Company[]
The Feral Air Mail Store (FAM) is a business founded by a Valkeri family in Feral. They use an airship for selling items. There is an item description mentioning that "Converting skyjellies to dyes is a part of Valkeri tradition." This implies that in Valkeri tradition, Valkeri have been/are converting skyjelly pigments into dyes. The FAM airship sells more than just dyes. It sells items such as Sanctuary Items and Accessories. The Feral Air Mail Store is piloted by Cael. The other family members refer to him as their "little brother," implying that Cael is one of the younger--if not--the youngest Valkeri in the family.
