The Werewolf is an avatar within Feral. The Werewolf was first hinted at in a Fer.al Direct stream on August 20th, 2020, further teased on social media on August 28th, 2020, and released through the Premium Season Pass on September 1st, 2020. It is currently available in the Astral Shop.

Description[]

The Werewolf appears to be a large canine avatar with a thick mane down its back, and a fluffy tail. It has large fangs, medium upright horns and an irregular hexagon-shaped spark on its forehead. In its default design, it is largely a deep mahogany, with rust-colored accents for its mane, muzzle, claws and fur details, with its eyes and spark being a turquoise colour. This avatar's name was initially unconfirmed and was correctly assumed to be 'Werewolf' thanks to various hints - with WildWorks describing the avatar as "moonstruck"[1] up to its release and suggesting it would be released on a full moon.[2]

The avatar was first hinted at in a Fer.al Direct stream on August 20th, 2020, with WildWorks confirming the next Season Pass will be released on a full moon, as well as repeatedly referencing dogs and wolves in the stream, even going so far as to 'howl' like wolves during certain portions of the Direct. The actual appearance of the avatar, at least partially, was finally teased around a week later on Feral's Instagram and Twitter accounts, on August 28th, 2020.[1] The name was confirmed to be Werewolf on August 31st, 2020, when emojis of the avatar were added to the official Discord, also confirming its final appearance.

Trivia[]

  • While possibly a coincidence, the Early Access 2 season had ended up running through October, the month in which Halloween takes place, a holiday that werewolves are commonly associated with.
  • Interestingly, the Werewolf is depicted with five fingers on each hand. While werewolves in real world folklore are humans turned into wolves, there currently exists no species native to Planet Feral with five fingers. Other Sparks such as Kino, however, have been shown with five fingers. Currently, it is unclear the reasoning for this design choice.
  • If you choose the 'Bowed Head' mode, it will start walking on four legs instead of two.
